Arrested — You Won’t BELIEVE This!

The core cast of Arrested Development

The core cast of Arrested Development

If I was stranded on a desert isle, and I rescued a genie from a lamp to be rewarded with the standard three wishes, my very first wish would be for infinite seasons of Arrested Development.

Ok, that’s a lie. I’d wish to be home safe and for a winning Powerball ticket. But then? Infinite seasons of Arrested Development! I mean, c’mon. Six Emmys. One Golden Globe. Sufficient fan demand to bring it back from cancellation on Fox for a fourth and now fifth season on Netflix.

IGN called it the funniest show of all time, and with good reason. It’s basically the best thing since chocolate.

Check out the supporting cast. All stars, all the time. Liza Minnelli, Henry Winkler, Ben Stiller, Jane Lynch, Amy Poehler, Charlize Theron…and those are the folks playing secondary characters. The show is just to weird and wonderful for even big names to resist.

Then there’s the big, broken, bizarre Bluth family at the center of the show. They will definitely make you feel well adjusted. They’re all various shades of incompetent or insane except for Michael, played by Jason Bateman, who is the only one who seems capable of rationality. Or ethics. Or making a good decision.

No, seriously. Dad George is in prison for defrauding investors and (I swear, it’s funnier than it sounds) building “mini palaces” for foreign dictators. Mom Lucille is a smothering alcoholic. Eldest brother Gob is a spectacularly terrible magician. Youngest brother Buster is too weak-willed to wipe his own…nose. And Michael’s twin sister Lindsay redefines materialism.

They’re all terrible people, and they’re awesome.

Go. Watch it. Seriously. In these days of Netflix, catching up on a four-season show is nothing. And Scott Baio plays a lawyer named Bob Loblaw with a law blog who lobs law bombs. How can you resist?
