A Most Beautiful Place

As another summer comes to a close, I’m reliving one of my favorite summertime trips, to Colorful Colorado. Colorado has two sides: in wintertime, there’s the “I love Colorado because it’s pretty and I’m swishing down powdery slopes, but I hate Colorado because my skin is cracking and I’ve yet to achieve homeostasis.” The other side of Colorado is one I think a lot of people miss, and in my opinion it’s the better side: summertime Colorado. This is the snow-free, perfect temperature of high sixties low seventies, white-water raft, hike, horseback ride, sit-on-the-porch-and-stare-at-the-mountains-while-contemplating-the-probability-of-your-successful-existence-in-the-real-world-after-this-experience Colorado. The wildflowers don’t really bloom until June, if you want snow you can still find it blocking your way to the top of Mt Evans or Independence Pass, but there is every kind of beauty around every bend in the trail.
